You’re Very Talented

talentThere’s no shortcut to talent. Talent is the direct result of studying and practicing a lot. No one is really born talented. Oh I’m sure genetics plays a role in our successes, but even someone born with an inclination towards pursuing a specific subject, must cultivate themselves through effort and struggle.

Talent is the direct result of becoming knowledgeable of a subject, and then applying that knowledge in a practical manner. It requires both in good measure to really lead to that condition known as “Talented”.

When I first started creating art as a child, I decided I wanted to improve my drawing skills, so I purchased a couple of books on the subject. I skim read through them, and I practiced a little bit, so I made very little progress.

I had an impulse to leave my mark on things, to doodle, and draw, and color, but I lacked any education or training. It wasn’t until many decades later that I would get serious about my urge to create.

When I finally did get serious about developing a talent for art, I bought every book and DVD I could get my hands on. I took a few classes and attended several workshops, sometimes driving a few hundred miles and renting a room for the week. I earmarked about 20% of my income towards that pursuit, to pay for supplies, materials and classes. I studied and practiced like that for almost 8 years, and estimate I spent over $40,000 on my education.

Now I’m not suggesting that you should do the same, because you see I spent a lot more time and money than I needed to get to where I am, and as a matter of fact much of what I teach is how you can learn to paint abstracts on a budget.

Some of you have already taken the “Intro to Abstract Painting” course,if so I have a 2nd beginners course I recommend where I demonstrate my process for creating several more of my most popular Abstract Designs. I also have a few more advanced courses, and I’m working on new ones all the time.

Here’s a link to those courses, Check them out. Premium Courses

I just found you on you tube. My intention was to find “How to paint a wolf with acrylics”
after a few minutes your video caught my eye, (nothing to do with wolves),but here I am.
I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. I like the way you share your knowledge in abstract with acrylics and love your paintings. I’m inspired!!
